Frequently asked questions — kosher restaurants

Where can I eat kosher in Netanya?

Netanya has plenty of kosher places: meat restaurants, dairy restaurants, pizzerias, sushi and patisseries. The KosherMap Netanya guide ranks the best places by Google rating, with reviews and opening hours updated daily.

Where can I eat glatt or mehadrin kosher in Eilat?

The KosherMap Eilat guide shows only verified places and flags the mehadrin ones (some under Badatz Beit Yosef or Badatz Mahfoud). You can filter by meat or dairy, then by mehadrin.

Is there kosher food in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Yes. Our Dubai guide lists meat restaurants, dairy cafés and bakeries, a deli and a kosher supermarket, most under mehadrin supervision, plus a dairy restaurant in Abu Dhabi.

Where can I eat kosher in Cyprus?

Cyprus has kosher restaurants, caterers, Chabad houses and kosher hotels in Paphos, Larnaca, Limassol, Ayia Napa and Latchi. Our Cyprus guide lists them with addresses, ratings and opening hours.

How do I know a restaurant is really kosher?

Look for the kashrut certificate displayed in the restaurant: it names the supervising body (rabbinate, beth din, Badatz…) and its validity period. If in doubt, ask to see it or contact the supervising body. KosherMap shows the supervision level we know of, but the certificate on site is what counts.

What do mehadrin, glatt and Badatz mean?

“Mehadrin” means a stricter level of supervision than basic kashrut. “Glatt” originally refers to meat from an animal whose lungs are smooth; in everyday use it is a label of stringency, mostly for meat. “Badatz” is a rabbinical court (beth din) that supervises kashrut itself. Exact criteria vary between organisations.

What is the difference between a meat and a dairy kosher restaurant?

In kashrut, meat and dairy are not mixed: a meat restaurant serves no dairy and a dairy restaurant serves no meat. “Parve” (neutral) places serve neither. KosherMap guides let you filter by type.

Are kosher restaurants open on Shabbat and holidays?

Usually not: most kosher restaurants close for Shabbat and Jewish holidays, and close earlier on Fridays. Always check opening hours before you go.

Is KosherMap free, and is the information verified?

Yes, the guides and the map are free. Each guide shows what KosherMap could verify for each place (certificate, supervising body, level), and pages are refreshed regularly. Levels and owners can change, so always check the certificate displayed on site.
